Happy Sunday! If you have been following along if you are new here I am creating a podcast a week for the next 30 days. I think I’m on day six of recording in a row. I’m pretty sure I told you guys before I’m going to lose count. And eventually, I’ll stop saying what day it is because you know numbers math counting, it’s not my strong suit. Today I want to talk about routine. Specifically, I want to talk to you guys about my morning routine because it has become so so sacred for me, especially Monday through Friday when I am really working on my business. Routine is something that I have had an interesting and complicated relationship throughout my life. Because I am a perfectionist type, you guys know I’m type A. I’m a Virgo, I’m an Enneagram three. And if I create a routine historically, and I don’t follow it perfectly, I then feel some guilt and shame honestly, about not being able to stay committed to the thing that I said I would do.
So I’ve had a complicated relationship with routines where I do them for a while, and then I fall out of them. And then I think oh my gosh, you’re a failure. Something that I have realized is that as rigid as I can be, I require areas of my life to flow. I actually like marrying structure with flow. So to think about that tangibly for my morning routine, I love to have a routine in the morning. That’s the structure, but the flow comes in where it doesn’t have to be the identical same thing every single day. And that is where my flow comes in. So a lot of the things I do in my mornings, I do them every morning, right? But sometimes I don’t do all of them. And I’ll walk you through all of the different things I choose from and I’ll tell you what I’m doing right now, for the most part.
I usually wake up (I’ll be very specific). I usually wake up around six o’clock in the morning. I have been in a very bad habit of setting my alarm for 5 am. I don’t wake up at 5 am. I don’t do it. So I’m having right now an hour of sleep that’s being interrupted by alarms every eight to 15 minutes. I can’t remember what cadence I have at this point. So this week, I’m going to stop setting my alarm for five. I just always think like, oh, it’d be so great to wake up at five but my body does not like to wake up at five, six, sometimes 6:30 but usually around 6 am my cat Drizzy Drake wakes me up around six anyway to eat so it works out perfectly. So I get up at six. I immediately go into the kitchen. I will feed the baby because he’s crying to be fed. And then I put on my coffee. My coffee is very specific. The way I make it the way I drink it. It gets more specific as I get older. I use an Italian espresso Moka Pot. And I specifically like the brand Bialetti I think I got mine on Amazon. Anyway. I love it because it’s an espresso pot. Sometimes when I say espresso, it sounds like Nespresso. I do have a Nespresso machine put away, but that’s not what I’m using lately. So it’s, I have the largest size, it’s like nine cups, but remember, it’s nine espresso sized cups, so it’s much smaller. I like to be a Bialetti brand because it works really fast. So I set that up. And while that’s happening, I take my frother and I add oat milk to the frother. And then a little bit of this oat Oatly. No, no, the brand is not only it’s Silk. Oh yeah. Cinnamon, or oatmeal, cinnamon cookie creamer add like a tablespoon of that because I love it. So those things happen. And then I tried to drink 32 ounces of water, preferably with lemon. And then I’m obsessed with the Organifi greens. Oh my gosh, I am also a lover of celery juice, but I just have not been good about making my celery juice. So I decided that I needed something to supplement my life. And so I have been following Organifi. My friends are all sponsors for Organifi. So I decided to give it a go and I am loving that. So I try to get the water and the greens and before I start the coffee. And then if the coffee is still not done, I’ll unload the dishwasher or load the dishwasher whatever needs to be done in the morning. Drink my beverages. And then once my coffee is done, I take that and I bring that actually back to my bed every morning. I close my door and then I clear the energy in my room. So I either will palo santo sage, sometimes both and then I have a clearing spray that I use. And then I also have a room spray that I don’t even know… I know there’s some lavender in it, but I don’t know what else is in it. It just smells good. And it sets the mood. So I do that. I light a candle. And then I sit down for a meditation. Before I start my meditation, I use this plant medicine non-psychedelic plant medicine called Hapè. And Hapè from my understanding it’s newer in my life in the past couple of months. But it is a type of tobacco that is grounded very, very, very finely. And you snort it on either side of your nostril. And I have this little device called a Kuripes. I think that’s how you say it. And it’s shaped in such a way where there’s like two little prongs, one prong goes in your nose and one goes in your mouth and you literally blow it up your nose. It might sound really crazy. I was very scared of it before I started using it. But it really helps your body to ground down. So like you do one side of the body and you feel the whole one side of your body ground. You do the other side, you feel the complete other side of your body ground down. And it just helps me get into a space for meditation. And then I’d like to actually put headphones on with some sort of music. And then I go into my meditation. That’s pretty standard for my Monday through Friday routine. Other things I add are journaling. I also write a letter of speaking things into existence. And “I” in the present tense like it’s already happened. And we’re celebrating. And so I will read that out loud to myself. Meditate.
I haven’t been reading in the morning lately, I just haven’t been getting into that groove. Sometimes I go through seasons where I do read in the morning. And then once I’ve done that, I start my day. I prefer to do a morning rope workout. My workout lately is F45. It’s a 45-minute hit workout. I love the workouts but also it’s convenient. It’s literally next door to my building. So I can just walk over and get a quick 45-minute workout and like there’s no excuse. But that’s typically how I start my day. I try not to take clients before noon. But on Tuesdays, I start early because I’ve stacked my clients and my time blocked day. But that’s the way I start my day each day. And it helps me to stay grounded, it helps me to stay focused, and it helps me to really set the intentions for my day. So that’s my morning routine. Hope you guys have a beautiful Sunday and I will talk to you tomorrow on the podcast
