Good morning, and welcome back to another episode of all the things podcast. I’m your host, Regina Lawrence. And we are in the middle of my 30 Day podcasting every day, I wish I had a cute name for it, but I don’t. 30 podcasts in 30 days. Because I’m really wanting to create more content, give more value and just show up more on this platform. So here we are.
So today I want to talk about how you show up in your brand online. Branding is such an interesting thing because I don’t know about you. But when I started my business, I didn’t know what the fuck up brand was. I didn’t know what a niche was. I didn’t really understand what marketing was. My world was so different. And what happens when you start your own online business, you have to be a jack of all trades, you have to understand branding and marketing and social media, and all of these different things to some degree so you know how to utilize them. So when you are a coach or a solopreneur, you are your brand. Remember that. You are the brand you are the reason why people buy. There are a bajillion business coaches out there, but the reason why people work with me as a coach is because of me. Yes, they require assistance with the skills that I have and that I offer. But it’s because people connect and resonate with something about me, which makes them want to work with me.
So creating a brand online for me means, “What parts of you are you able to show to your ideal audience that will resonate and connect with them?”, and as a result of that, they like and trust you and want to work with you. So really building a brand is getting in touch with WHO ARE YOU. WHO ARE YOU REALLY. and who is your ideal client, and how can you help them connect with you quickly so that they know you are your ideal. You are their coach, and they are your ideal client. You know, there are a lot of complaints online where people create a brand that isn’t authentic, they’re showing, you know things or they’re not being honest about who they really are. And that is not branding, that is manipulation. That is using manipulation tactics, giving people what they want, so that you can get them as a customer. And that will always lead to a big fucking mess. It’s like when girls start dating a guy, and they hide who they really are, or a guy’s a new girl, and they hide who they really are. And they show up as they think the other person wants them to be. It’s not going to work out in the long run. And it’s the same thing in your brand. The thing that is really hard for us when we are building our brands online is that we are scared to be vulnerable. We are scared to tap into those parts of ourselves that are real and honest and authentic. But I’m telling you right now, in 2021, so here it is, right 2021. Yeah. In 2021, people can see through the bullshit. And if you are not in integrity and showing up as your truest self, people can sniff that bullshit from a mile away. People are so desiring to connect with real, authentic humans that we want to buy from, that’s who we want to work with. Even if you’re selling a tangible product, there has to be a human connection and component to the thing that you are selling, so that people will want to buy it from you.
So how do we start to show up and create that brand? I think the first thing is to really sit with yourself and think about a couple of different things. One, what’s the product service or good that you are selling? And why are you selling it? What is your intention and your purpose? And your why behind that? What pain do you want to help solve? How do you want to assist people with this thing that you are putting out into the world and selling? And then I want you to think about your ideal customer. I want you to get really, really, really, really laser-focused on who that person is, what their pain is, and how you can actually help them and serve them through the thing that you are selling. Then with them in mind, what parts of yourself do they need to see to be able to connect with you. It’s different when you meet someone in real life because you get an opportunity to see them, to feel their energy to talk to them to kind of be like, okay, like this person’s a little shy, like, I’m gonna take it slow and get to know them and go at their pace, or oh, this person is really excited and energetic. I am going to meet them where they’re out with that energy, but you don’t really know that when you are creating content and showing up online. So you have to really think about what parts of myself I want to share that will connect and resonate with my ideal customer. So for me, honestly, there’s not really any disconnect between who I am online, who I am in person who I am in this podcast, and who I am as a coach because listen, I am who I am, for better or for worse, I always say that this is who I am, this is the body I have, this is the personality I have. I am always seeking to be a better human. But there are just certain traits that this is Regina, and this is who I am. And so I show that and share that on social media, I curse and I drink tequila. And I meditate and I sit with plant medicine. And I love reality TV and I love pop culture. But I also am like a history buff and I love to travel and you know, I have all these pieces that make me up and I share them all. You know, I like to work out and I like to be competitive. I like to talk shit. That is all. That’s all who I am. And so I share all of it. I share it all. Like there’s not a ton of method to my madness, except to just be honest and authentic and real and serve and teach. That’s it. How can you show up honestly? How can you show up with integrity? How can you provide value? And how can you show the most real pieces of yourself so that your ideal customers can know, like, and trust you and want to connect with you and want to work with you?
