Today I wanted to hop on and do a really quick little thought bubble episode on gratitude. Gratitude is something that I think is one of our greatest teachers. It’s one of the greatest bits of medicine that we can have. And when I talk about gratitude as medicine or really anything as medicine, I mean that that particular thing, modality thought idea is something that is helping me to be a better human. It’s something that’s helping to heal me. It’s something that’s helping me to see the world in a different and better way.
And I’ve been reflecting on gratitude because gratitude is something like you are always hearing people talk about. Gratitude for the things we have, gratitude for the things we want as a trigger to the universe to say, “Yes, this has happened, please fill me up.”
I’ve been thinking about gratitude in terms of our goals. If you’re like me, and I think you are, you have really big, beautiful, audacious goals for your life, for your business, for your future for your present. And something I realized I was on an airplane yesterday, I was flying home to Phoenix from San Diego. And I was thinking about gratitude because sometimes I get into the habit of only being grateful for when the big goal is met. But not necessarily giving thanks for all the little steps and wins that have led to accomplishing the big goal.
And I think especially as you’re building a business as I’m building my businesses, you know, getting to the big goal. It’s kind of like I’m not going to be happy to accomplish that big thing. And it’s the same thing with gratitude. So instead of being “Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this big $10,000 $20,000 $100,000 month.”, I’m really working on giving thanks for all the little things that have led to accomplishing the big goal. “Thank you for another $1,000 of residual income in my business.”, “Thank you for another client.”, “Thank you for another step towards being able to live the life that I love to live.”, “Thank you for giving me this life.” Like I sit down and I was looking at my life yesterday, I was flying back to Arizona from California and I’m able to work anywhere, I’m able to do anything I want in any way that I want to do it. And I have actively created this life. I’ve actively co manifested this life with the universe. And I have to be thankful for every step of the journey. And so I was really thinking about that. Am I grateful for each little tiny thing that’s happening that’s setting me closer to my goals?
I think back on my life, if you’re a new listener, I used to be a practicing attorney. And so obviously, I went to college, and I went to law school. And then, you study for the bar, and it’s all the years you spend working towards, the big goal. What’s the first job? How much money you’re going to make from working so hard? That was the mentality. And so I wasn’t really in this spirit of gratitude for each step of the journey. And when I think back, there was so much to be grateful for, through the journey that led me to become a lawyer to accomplishing the big audacious goals. There were tons of small goals, like the fact that I even got into law school. I don’t know how that happened in the first place. The fact that I’ve made it through the first semester, which was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, the fact that I passed my exams my first year, the fact that I passed the bar exam. And I was so not giving thanks for all the things in the way I should have been because I was so focused on the big goal, the big audacious goal.
And so now in my business, I’m really concentrating on being grateful. Being grateful for one person that opted into my email list. Being thankful to a person that once again on a discovery call with me. Being grateful to the people who watch my stories on Instagram and tell people about me and grateful for literally every single solitary person that listens to my podcast and tells a friend about it. So that’s my goal right now and my invitation to you and sharing the story with you is where in your life can you have more gratitude? What little tiny areas of life can you have more gratitude for all that is happening for you? And I just know in my experience, the more gratitude I have, the more there is to be grateful for.
I hope that you enjoyed this little quickie I love you guys have such a great day. And if you love this episode, please please please go on to iTunes rate review and subscribe and share it with your friends. With that, I love you guys have a beautiful day.
