So we’re in the midst of a travel journey. As you guys know, I was in Guatemala for Cacao, and holotropic breathwork retreat, and then me and the girls decided to venture over to Tulum where we have been relaxing, and just having such a great time. And so we’re all sitting around, we are waiting for dinner in our Villa that we rented. We have men here who are making us dinner. So nice. And we decided to pop on and to record a quick podcast episode, I think that we’re going to chat about today’s different perspectives and things that we’ve observed, traveling and being together. And what’s been coming up for us on this trip. And so before I recorded the episode, I said to the girls, what are some things you guys have been thinking about? And Sammy is going to start us off with some perspectives that she’s had in traveling over the past day. Sammy wasn’t with us in Guatemala, but she met us in Cancun. And so she had a very wild travel adventure
SAMMY: True, with red-eye leaving at 1 am in the morning, so that’s always fun. So that being said, traveling for several hours, having a three-hour layover, and then finally landing in Mexico. And I had a three-hour wait for the girls to arrive. And I was just sitting here, going through customs and sitting on the other side of customs literally sitting on my luggage. Just watching people pick up their luggage and meeting up with people and running into groups together and just watching a flood of people passing by me. And I was having one of these out-of-body moments experience where I’m just noticing and observing hundreds of people in front of me and thinking about what are their lives like? Where are they going? Are they coming home? Are they leaving? Are they meeting up for a romantic rendezvous? Are they escaping something? Are they going on the one epic trip of a lifetime, and that is the one time that they’re ever going to be able to do this. Like, there’s just so much life that passes right before our eyes that I don’t think we really slowed down to notice sometimes. And it was almost overwhelming just the amount of life that was walking right in front of me. And so that just made me pause for a second and observe my own life. Where am I right now? Are people looking at me and thinking, What’s her life like? It’s just so interesting to just take that pause and observe for a while. These are the moments that I have where I get very philosophical, and I have what I call an “Oh my god, I’m a human.” And I get really, really freaked out sometimes. Thinking, “Oh, my God, how is this my life?”
REGINA: Well, because it’s so rare. Like you had three hours of like, waiting. Yeah. And like, we don’t really usually have time or we’re just like, sitting around for hours, waiting. And traveling is when a happens for me like sitting in an airport or on an airplane. I have, what I mean, what I think are the best ideas and scheming on an airplane because like, what the fuck else am I going to do? Why also sleep a lot? I was thinking about something similar but different from Sammy. We were on the bus. And we went to this market in Guatemala. It’s the biggest market and they’re laughing because it was a shit show, we were a little traumatized. It’s the largest market in Central America. It’s enormous. And with so much energy, so many vendors, so many people selling things, lots of children selling stuff for their parents. And it was a whole experience. And so we get on the bus and we’re taking the hour-plus trip back to our village, which we had to take a bus and then we had to take a boat. I’ll tell you guys all about the whole experience on another episode. But we’re coming back and we’re driving through this village. And if you’ve ever been to Central America, it’s the quintessential, Central American village that we drove through, where you know, parents are walking their kids around, and there’s tons of little markets and all this stuff. Homes that are just so different than the homes that we live in, in the US and in Europe and in big cities. And I was just thinking about these people and how, you know, I truly believe that we choose our life in this lifetime, before we come to earth in this body at this moment in time, we choose the life that we’re going to have, because there are lessons that we have to move through. And contracts we have to complete with this lifetime. And so I was thinking about these kids and their parents and how this is the lesson in this lifetime that they’ve chosen and how their lessons in this lifetime are so different than my lessons in this lifetime. And then when I was in the airport, going through customs in Guatemala City, I was putting my shoes on and was rushing through security. I’ve flown a million times. So, when I pull my laptop out of all my shoes off, take my hat off, like I know what to do because I’ve done it a thousand times. And I was thinking about people that are from these little villages that have never been on an airplane. And have never gone through that experience, like Kiki and I are bustling through the airport looking for a bar. Obviously, we’re looking for a bar. And I was thinking about how, Oh my gosh, these people that we would see in the village a lot of them have probably never done something like this. And it was such a moment for me to think about this lifetime and the life that I get to live in this lifetime. And the adventures I get to have and the experiences that I have, and it just made me feel so thankful for what I have right now.
SAMMY: On a similar note, so I have been in a season of change and transition. And I am definitely a control freak Type A. I’m in the medical field, the whole nine yards. And I have really been trying to step into my feminine and figure out how to go with the flow. And so Regina and I signed up for this trip on a whim, I texted her and said “Hey, we’re going to Guatemala on this retreat that our friend is leading.” And she was like, “Okay.” and we just didn’t really ask any questions
REGINA: We literally had no idea while we were doing it. I didn’t even know what country we were going to. I kept saying, “When we go to Nicaragua…” she’s like, “We’re not going to Nicaragua!” I’m like, “Okay, when we go to Honduras…” she’s like, “We’re not going to Honduras!!!”
SAMMY: So I was the ringleader of this little circus, but I still wasn’t really asking any questions, because I was just going with the flow. And next thing we knew, we’re on a bus for four hours, we had to take a boat to get to the island that we were staying at…
REGINA: And then we had to swim to the island with our backpacks… haha
SAMMY: It was a whole experience. I just kept releasing control and going with the flow. And we just kept ending up in these incredible, amazing, beautiful, sometimes challenging situations. And I just kept looking at Regina. And thinking and saying to her telepathically, what the fuck is our life? This is amazing. And if we had asked all the questions, we never probably would have signed up for that trip and been able to experience the beauty and the people and the women that we were on the retreat with, and the sweat lodge. All these incredible experiences that we got to have never would have happened if it didn’t start with me releasing control.
REGINA: Totally. There was this moment and I did a podcast episode yesterday where I talked all about the sweat lodge what happened in the sweat lodge. But there was this moment, I told you guys that there were four rounds in the sweat lodge. So you go into the sweat lodge, you sit for 15 minutes in the heat and the steam and we were singing and chanting and we don’t know what the fuck we were singing and chanting with, but it was amazing. And then you would come out and get a cold shower, drink this watered-down tea, so you wouldn’t dehydrate. And then you go back in.
SAMMY: And it’s raining the biggest beautiful raindrops. And everything’s perfect. Just everything in the world was right at that moment.
REGINA: There was a volcano in the distance smoking,
SAMMY: The colors of the jungle were just incredible.
REGINA: And we just looked at each other. And we both started laughing because we both know we’re thinking “Oh my god, what is our life?” and our friend Alden said you two have some really powerful telepathy right now. We were like, “YUP!” So we just wanted to share with you guys some of these thoughts and musings from our traveling because I know for so many of us, we just don’t get a chance to slow down. We don’t get a chance to slow down and to observe these things. And a lot of these thoughts that the three of us are having, I think we all have them at different moments. And so we wanted to share them all with you at the moment in the experience because I really feel like this will resonate with a lot of you. And no matter where you are in your life, this is an invitation to slow down for a few minutes and observe and really observe your surroundings, observe the world around you, connect to and observe the people that are in your zone, and feel into their experience of life. That’s a huge part of human connection. And I think so many of us are craving that and when we can slow down and take a moment and just happened to other humans. That is just a beautiful level and layer to the human experience. So with that, I love you guys.
